Our mission is simple: to uplift and deliver accurate, timely, and informative content that reflects the unique character and vibrant life of our town and community.
Our paper is unashamedly for and about our community with a dedicated commitment to local news, local stories, local events and community achievements. There is a saying in Dunolly – “If it’s not in the Welcome Record…then….” – we pride ourselves on reporting the truth not sensational rumours, often fuelled by social media.
We believe in the power of local voices, the positivity, kindness and strength of community and the importance of staying connected. Whether you’re a long-time resident, newcomer or a visitor, our award-winning community paper is here to keep you informed and involved in the life of Dunolly and surrounds.

The Welcome Record Inc. is a registered not-for-profit community organisation in Dunolly, Victoria that publishes a weekly paper which is distributed to Dunolly, Tarnagulla, Maryborough, Laanecoorie, Eddington, Moliagul and Bealiba communities. It has enjoyed a proud 40+ years of continuous publication.
Our paper is produced entirely by volunteers who have roles in office work, writing, photography, proofing, editing, graphic and publishing design, printing and distribution. The Welcome Record encourages local residents to write contributions as well as reporting community events. It enables local business to advertise directly to our community and surrounds with a well-established print and growing online readership.
The Welcome Record is an integral part of the Dunolly and district community. We draw the community together by promoting community events, sporting achievements, celebrations and bereavements, and keeps the local community informed about what matters to our community. As a non-profit and charity registered organization, we are 100% staffed completely by volunteers and any surplus funds are donated to the local community at the end of each financial year. We offer skills and confidence to volunteers in a nurturing environment and are always will welcome volunteers – Come Join Us.
