Welcome to Dunolly, Victoria
Welcome to our small town with a BIG Heart.
Nestled in the heart of Central Victoria, Dunolly is a charming small town with a rich history and a vibrant community spirit.
Known as Lea Kuribur by the first indigenous inhabitants – the Dja Dja Wurrung, the town was named Dunolly, after Dunollie Castle in Scotland and became famous due to the discovery of the Welcome Stranger, the largest alluvial gold nugget in the world.
The epicentre of the Golden Triangle during the heady days of the Gold Rush in 1856, now known for its golden history and historic architecture – Dunolly is a hidden gem, inviting you to step back in time and enjoy our beautiful parks, local events and welcoming locals. Whether you’re interested in discovering our gold rush history, enjoying outdoor activities as a new resident, or simply soaking in the serene countryside, Dunolly is a delightful destination that captures the essence of rural Australian life.
Today, Dunolly respects our historic past and embraces our growing future – a special place to live.
